We're never too old to pick up a new hobby. I've actually done quite a few new things in middle-age which has made middle-age a surprisingly fresh time for being alive! My picking up new hobbies have been mostly unexpected and part of a growing sense of giving things a try and not putting up as much of a fight when my wife tells me I should go do it! One of my newest and most enjoyable hobbies has been a curiosity of mine for a very long time. If you would have asked me if I'd be learning how to play piano in middle-age, I would have told you "You're crazy! That ship sailed decades ago." But in reality, my ship never left dream harbor. I had just been too chicken, too contemplative, too busy, too fearful, too focused on money, too...too...to do anything about it. Until I just went and did it. It's time to sail away from dream harbor and wash away the fear of trying.

Is there anyone untouched by the power and influence caffeine has in society today? While caffeine is only found naturally in the fruit, leaves, and beans of a few plants, it is artificially added to a plethora of other consumable products. Caffeine is truly a chemical we hate to love, as enjoyment can quickly become reliance. In moderation, it is a tool in our productivity toolbox. In excess, it's a toxic poison. Let's dig into where it comes from, how it works, and what we can leverage it to do.

Feeling tired? Feeling meh? You're not alone. Roughly 20% of the world's population reports feeling tired for at least 6 months and from personal experience, most people are NOT morning people. Safe to say, we are all in pursuit of feeling more energy. Feeling more alive. Feeling more productive, ambitious, motivated, interested, and engaged. But where does that leave us? Most of the time it leaves us...disappointed. It leaves us exhausted. It leaves us wondering what we're doing wrong. The Energy category on my website will be dedicated to exploring the intricacies of energy. The reasons why it's such a struggle to feel energized. I'll be digging into energy supplements, chemicals, nutrition, sleep habits, daily decisions, and much more. Kicking off today's deep dive into growing our energy intelligence quotient (Energy IQ), let's take a look at a few basics.

A love-hate relationship at the core, advertising is an age old phenomenon living between data-backed science and abstract dreams. From massive sport event commercials to the pesky interrupting ads on YouTube, ads affect just about all of us. Is there a winner or are we all losing the game for our hard-earned dollars on both sides of the advertisement spectrum?

Despite the ever growing connectedness of our world, loneliness continues to spread like wildfire. Ask anyone how many real friends they have, and the number can typically be counted on one hand. Double-down even further to ask how many long-term friendships they have and the number is typically one or none. Cultivating friendships are a distinct human need yet it does not come naturally to many of us. Why is that? Why do so few friendships stand the test of time? Here are seven keys to a friendship that lasts and the immediate steps you can take to begin cultivating deep, meaningful relationships.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has experienced an exponential surge in capability and popularity lately, thanks to Open AI's ChatGPT. While it wasn't the only AI system around, it became one of the easiest for everyday people like you and me to access and play around with. Naturally, our human tendency to fear that which we don't understand took hold immediately and everyone wants to know what jobs, or more importantly if their job, will be replaced by our smarter, more efficient, and less whiny robotic counterparts. Similar to any technological leap, many jobs will be impacted. But will AI's influence stop there or cross into the spiritual realm? Can AI advise on spiritual matters? How about matters of the heart? Is it a noisy gong of "head knowledge" or a reputable advisor with more scriptural backing than most Christians?

Can we increase our willpower? Yes! Willpower and it's close friends; discipline and self-control, are like any muscle in the body. The more intentional focus on growth you provide it, the stronger they become. With willpower, we can move mountains. Namely, the mountains of our stubborn mind and body. We can will ourselves to act, to do things and go places we previously believed to be impossible.

Odds are you have a daily to-do list. Nearly everyone on the planet does. How are you at accomplishing your to-do tasks? Do you get most or all of them done? What about the higher priority items? Do you know which to-do items are most important for your day, week, or month to be a success? While we all want to be more successful, and often try to be more successful, sometimes we hold ourselves back in our commitment. And this commitment is what separates people into two camps: those who write their to-do lists down, and those who don't. You will be more successful, productive, and satisfied in life when you unlock the secret power of to-do lists. It's so easy anyone can do it!

It's common for hard workers to request raises. Raises are an expected, recurring activity among US employees and employers. With rising costs of living, increased demand for good workers, and the inherent desire to be compensated appropriately for one's growing expertise, asking for a raise (and expecting one) is a shared experience of all employees across all job sectors. But how do you initiate a raise conversation and is there really a 'best way' to ask for a raise?

Many people misunderstand that while passive income is very real, the hard work required for it to show up in their lives is also real. Passive income is a bountiful harvest from the planning, toil, and patience of focused effort typically over a long period of time. I'll show you how passive income works for me and the very active steps I took so you can begin seeing passive income in your life too.
